KOPRU Exhibition 5. - 26.8.2016 in Wanha Woimala, Vaajakoski, Finland!

After a relatively long period of artistic inactivity I will start again! Next step is the annual summer exhibition of our art society KOPRU (means turbulent flow of water in a rapid or waterfall, invented by the famous Finnish poet Eino Leino).

My drawings and paintings are mainly old ones (because I have done absolutely nothing during the last winter period) but I still try do some framing of colour pencil works before Thursday evening (which comes very soon!).

If you like to visit this exhibition, remember: open on every day of the week but NOT on Saturdays because wedding events in the restaurant of the building. But! Next Saturday is an exception - we will have a childrens' workshop (see photo above - some drawings of our young visitors from 2015).

Nearly one thousand visitors in KOPRU summer exhibition!

Summer 2015 has been relatively busy: staying on the countryside out of the reach of "modern civilization" (= Internet) has prevnted the updating of this blog! Gardening is, however, a perfect alternative for spending time with PC in the city.

Sorry to say: I have been very inactive in arts from May to August. But the construction of the annual KOPRU exhibition woke me to select five works of my own, one of them even from the year 2000!

Wanha Woimala ("Old Power Plant") served as our exhibition hall again. I cannot image a better site for our works - silent, big windows, not too hot or cool - and all the environment on the Vaajakoski channel area is most interesting.

Hanging of the paintings and drawings usually lasts only 2..3 hours. First to find the works which fit together, then hanging them in the right positions - and that's all. We used numbered stickers beneath the works which refer the printed lists available; this method is easier than to add all information on the works themselves. Thank you, Maija, for this invention!

This Friday, 28.8.2015, was the last day of the exhibition. Well over 900 visitors during August made us very happy. It seems that it isn't too complicated for pedestrians and bikers to step some stairs downwards to the 1st floor of Wanha Woimala and see our works!

KOPRU Exhibition 2012 has been mounted and opened!

The annual exhibition of art society KOPRU has just been opened in Wanha Woimala, situated in the beutiful river valley of Vaajakoski, Central Finland. This old industrial area belongs today to Jyväskylä city, being independent until middle of 00's. This summer exhibits a lot of new paintings, sculptures, drawings and photographic works which gives it a fresh feeling and a sense of novelty. More photos and written experiences will be published soon! You are, however, very welcome to the exhibition, because a visit to this excellent gallery, built in an old power plant, is a great experience itself!

Annual KOPRU Art Exhibition will be opened soon!

Increased professional tasks have taken so much time during winter period 2008-2009 that very few new drawings were made by me. I therefore looked through my older landscape drawings from the period 1995-2000 to collect them together inside the very same frames. Framing will be done by Kissakartano (Kuohu, Jyväskylä) like in similar busy situations in previous years. I thrust on their professional work, indeed.

Here is a small example of my older works - size of this drawing is only 10,5 cm times 15 cm.

You are welcome to the KOPRU Exhibition in the beginning of August (opening date and time: 4.8.2009 at 18:00) if you are travelling in Central Finland! This event will be held in Wanha Woimala (the old power plant) in Vaajakoski.

Construction of KOPRU Art Exhibition is finished!

Sunday, 3rd of August, was a busy day. All pictures and sculptures had to be installed on the walls and the floors. How they match together? Which one needs sunlight, which survive in artificial light?

Installing lights, preparing some decoration and other activities also took time - not to forget cleaning of two floors in the old Power Plant building.

Exhibition will be opened tomorrow, 4th of August, at 12 o'clock. I think that I will visit it after my duties.

And then the official opening of the exhibition and 30th Anniversary of KOPRU on next Friday. An exciting week, indeed.
